Loving Locally

Our Loving Locally partners are community organizations whose work our church supports with financial and human resources.

ASSURANCE PREGNANCY RESOURCE CENTER.

Assurance is the only pregnancy resource center in Lexington and the surrounding counties – including Jessamine County.  They provide a judgment free one for women for whom an unexpected pregnancy presents a crisis.  They offer free pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, STI testing, and consultations that provide vital information on adoptions, abortion, and parenting.  Through their BRIDGE program, Assurance helps clients connect to additional support like housing, health insurance, employment, WIC, and SNAP benefits.  There are numerous volunteer opportunities available with Assurance.

COMMUNITY SERVICE CENTER OF WILMORE & HIGH BRIDGE

The CSC helps residents in the Wilmore area with rent, utilities, and food.  Their thrift store sells donated items to raise funds for these services.  GCF assists the CSC with monthly food distributions, providing shelf stable goods, packing food boxes and then distributing those boxes.

CREEKSIDE SENIOR APARTMENTS

Creekside is a federally subsidized apartment complex in Nicholasville.  We serve lunch and host Bingo at Creekside 2 to 3 times each year.  The residents love the prizes, but especially helpful are common household goods like toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent and dish detergent which cannot be purchased with EBT benefits.  We also host a Christmas Social at Creekside each December where the residents Christmas wish lists are fulfilled by our “Senior Angel Tree.”

JESSAMINE COUNTY HOMELESS COALITION

The JCHC offers emergency shelter for those in immediate need, as well as community meals three times each day to anyone in the community who is in need of food.  GCF provides supplies like food and toiletries and prepares several of the community meals each year.

KENTUKCY REFUGEE MINISTRIES

KRM provides case management, job placement, career readiness programs, English as 2nd Language courses, citizenship courses, youth programs emergency financial assistance, health navigation assistance and legal services to persons who have been relocated to the United States due to the dangerous conditions in their home nations.  GCF participates in a winter coat drive for KRM and other needs as they arise.  When refugees are being received by the United States, we help prepare apartments for their incoming residents.
